„Fortnite“ ist das Spiel des Jahres bei den Golden Joystick Awards 2018 geworden. Damit setzte sich das Spiel von Epic Games gegen „Red Dead Redemption 2“ durch, was auch nominiert war.
Bestes PC-Spiel wurde hingegen „Subnautica“, eine Unterwasser-Lebenssimulation mit Horror-Elementen. Den Preis für das meisterwartete Spiel gewann „Cyberpunk 2077“ von CD Project.
Der Präsident von From Software und Produzent der „Dark Souls“-Spiele und Bloodbourne, Hidetaka Miyazaki, bekam eine Auszeichnung für sein Lebenswerk. Sein neues Spiel „Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice“ erscheint am 22.März 2019.
